Tuesday

do's and dont's for wearing jeans (:

some thing to avoid :

1. Wrinkling in the back of the thigh - too tight
2. Roll above the waistband - too tight, too low
3. Excessive emphasis on hips and saddlebags - too narrow

4. Peg-legs and pleats - no one looks good in either!
5. Age-inappropriate detailing - ripped look for those of us 30+, etc.
6. Puckering in the crotch area - too tight and straight
7. Gap in back - have them taken in if they fit great elsewhere

Things to look for -

1. If you have a large behind, look for little detailing on the back side. Pants should cut across the back to "halve" the behind area. You don't want a large expanse of "behind" like you might get with those old "mom" jeans with the pleats in front.
2. If you have no behind, you need detailing on the back to add volume. Look for extras on the pockets.
3. If you have fuller thighs, look for long, wider-legged jeans that elongate the leg. A darker, simpler look lengthens the leg and draws the eye away from the thigh area. Makes you appear leaner and taller too!
4. A higher waist looks best on most bodies - not to the waist, but just below with a wider waist band that doesn't poke into the sides but doesn't gap in back either. Covers a little tummy bulge but doesn't look dated like a high-waisted pair of jeans.
5. Fit the jeans to the widest area and take in the back of the waistband if necessary. Don't go too tight just to make the waistband fit right.
6. Underwear, especially thongs, showing in back is outdated and tacky. Keep your underwear underneath and go for a more polished, modern look!
7. You are never too old to wear a good pair of jeans! Dress them up, dress them down, be comfortable and stylish!
